Jaime Levy Pessin

Writer & Activist

Jaime Levy Pessin is a journalist, essayist, and gun violence prevention activist. After a decade working in traditional news organizations and another decade working as a community organizer and fundraiser, she is pursuing a new path as a fiction writer, and is working on a historical novel and a collection of short stories (see below). Her short story "Mikveh" received Honorable Mention in New Millennium Writings' 2024 Fiction contest. 

Jaime is a native of Miami, Fla., and lived in Charlotte, N.C. and Chicago before settling in  New York City. She currently lives in Brooklyn with her husband and two children.
